Our mushroom substrate ingredients are aimed at customers who want to produce their own mushroom growing substrates, making it easier and cheaper to grow mushrooms in larger volumes. Grain supplies may vary throughout the year as crops are seasonal and availability can fluctuate. For almost all mushrooms, our first choice of grain for producing grain spawn is rye grain.

Which Mushroom Substrate?

However, as a general rule, the majority of mushrooms thrive on a wood-based substrate, which means hardwood sawdust or hardwood pellets. Hardwood substrates can be supplemented with other items such as wheat or oat bran or soy hulls. CVG substrates are for a more limited number of mushroom types.
